The MOCA (Materials and Objects in Contact with Food) Declaration of Conformity or EC 1935/2004 is a certification necessary to ensure compliance with certain mandatory food hygiene requirements. The purpose of certification is to protect the health of consumers and minimize contamination in the entire supply chain.
MOCAs are materials and articles which are intended to come into contact with food or are expected to come into contact with food or which could transfer their constituents to food. Food safety applies to the whole food chain: even MOCAs have to comply with specific requirements imposed by European and national regulations.
